Investing in high-quality head protection products can prevent accidental injuries. When you're climbing or working at height, there's a risk that you (or a piece of equipment) could fall. A strong, reliable safety helmet should be worn whenever you're on-site or working at height.

What is the EN standard for working at height helmets?

The safety standard of safety helmets will depend on the types of risks that come with a particular job or environment.

For example, the general standard for construction sites is EN 397, whereas the standard for height safety helmets for mountain climbers is EN 12492.

However, regardless of the environment or hazards, all safety helmets must be approved to an EN standard and CE-approved.

The HSE (Health and Safety Executive) is the official body responsible for the regulation and enforcement of workplace health in the UK. If you’d like to read more about the official HSE guidance regarding safety helmets and general PPE, you can read here: HSE PPE FAQs

The HSE offers official guidance of frequently asked questions regarding the use of safety helmets in the workplace, such as ‘are safety helmets compulsory?’ and ‘what is ‘suitable’ head protection?’
