Key Characteristics of Kong Carabiners
- Durability: Many Kong carabiners are constructed from AISI 316 stainless steel which offers exceptional corrosion resistance, making Kong carabiners ideal for withstanding significant dynamic and static loads in harsh marine environments.
- The Keylock System: Patented by Kong in 1985, this system eliminates the traditional, snag-prone teeth on the gate and body, creating a smooth nose that prevents snagging on bolts, gear and ropes. This in turn enhances safety and convenience during clipping and unclipping.
- Asymmetric "D" Shape: This karabiner shape is engineered to maximise strength-to-weight ratio by transferring the majority of the load to the spine i.e. the strongest part.
