What makes Petzl products so reliable? Petzl are a French manufacturer of height safety equipment, with roots in safety equipment for caving. The company was founded by Fernand Petzl who began his caving career in the 1920’s and 1930’s. He collaborated with a fellow caver by the name of Pierre Chevalier. Together, they designed and tested the first nylon rope to replace caving ladders! Several years of innovation and Petzl product development later, we have the Petzl company as we know it today.
